DICOR™ is an online collaboration tool, that allows a health facility of any size, to host basic telemedicine meetings, right from their website. DICOR stands for Diagnostic Image Collaborative Review, and that's exactly what it does. Doctors can share x-rays, EKG stripes, endoscopic images, MRI images, in real time, and make annotations, to arrive to consensous in a given case. We believe that every Urgency / Emergency Room should be DICOR enabled, so that diagnostic images may be shared with the right specialist, to make life saving decisions fast.
We found that DICOR interacts nicely with Skype, making it extremely easy to add audio and video to meetings. It can host meetings for up to 10 people, including the moderator. To take advantage of Skype's audio and video, the maximum group is 5 people. Moderator plus 4 participants. This is more than enough, since diagnostic image review meetings are usually conformed by 4 people at the most. When audio and video are needed in meetings of larger groups (up to ten, the maximum that DICOR supports), then Conference can be used as a shell.
DICOR is web based on the attendees end. All they need is a Flash enabled Web browser. We tested DICOR on Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Avant, and it runs smoothly. The moderator or administrator of DICOR works from a simple small, easy to use interface that starts the meeting, stops the meeting, invites people, shares desktop, has whiteboard, shares images (JPG), shares desktop snapshots (specially useful in computer based EKG machines), sends files, and also sends URLs.
We had the chance to put DICOR to test, and found that GAVEnterprise fulfills the promise of an easy to use application.
Emergency, Urgency , and operating rooms are fast paced places, with very little slack for errors. Software applications used in these places has to be intuitive, easy to operate, and friendly. DICOR offers those features.
